The Zoya Factor is an adaptation of a novel by Anuja Chauhan. The screenplay is by Pradhuman Singh and Neha Sharma. Despite the light tone, the script is quite effective. However, the story is rather lacking in emotional punch. While the plot is entertaining, the script doesn’t capture its premise well. It’s a typical rom-com, with a few sly quips here and there.
In ‘The Zoya Factor’, Sonam Kapoor plays a copywriter who is sent on an ad photo shoot with the Indian cricket team. There, she meets Nikhil Khoda and Dulquer Salmaan. She tells the team about her ‘luck factor’ story, and the resulting ad shoot leads to India’s underperforming team winning matches.
This Bollywood film, based on an English novel by Anuja Chauhan, combines the themes of luck and hard work. The romantic climax is weak and dragged down by underwhelming performances and a lacklustre plot. The film’s Lagaan-style plot fails to hit the sweet spot. However, if you’re looking for a light-hearted romantic comedy, The Zoya Factor is worth seeing.
The film is a breezy adaptation of a popular novel by Anuja Chauhan. While there are a few feel-good moments in the film, there’s also a good amount of seriousness, and Zoya is no exception. Fortunately, her improbable moments are dealt with in a light-hearted way. The film also includes an interesting twist – Zoya was born the day India won the 1983 cricket world cup, so her birth is considered a lucky charm. After she’s recruited to be a lucky mascot for the team, she charms the Indian cricket team into winning the match.
In the film, Zoya works tirelessly to win a campaign. She spills the details about her lucky charm credentials at the breakfast table, and Khoda’s team’s aversion to superstitions is put to good use as Zoya’s ‘luck factor’ results in a win. The Zoya Factor Rating, while a ‘luck factor’ by some, may not be for everyone.
Dulquer Salmaan is the most well-rounded actor in the movie. As a Malayalam superstar, he manages to be charming, intelligent, and endearing. Even the most geriatric heart will melt when Zoya and Dulquer meet. The film is a good watch for both the actors and fans of the genre. But the film’s ‘luck factor’ will make you wonder about Zoya.
The Indian cricket team is certain to lose the match without Zoya. However, Zoya is a mascot and starts banking on her. As a result, the team is a big hit, and Zoya is given more credit than the rest of the team. However, Nikhil has decided to leave Zoya out of one match, which was not a very important one for Team India. In addition, Robin purposely loses the match, just to show her that he’s a ‘good boy’.
